RV rental

Book your Burning Man RV by February.

Reno and the Bay Area are the two pickups people mean. El Monte's own guide is the clock on this page. A fee appears here only when that guide states it.

We are an independent outfitter. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Burning Man Project. The event name is used so you know which week this rental is for. We do not book the rig, and we do not sell tickets.

What El Monte says about February

Their Burning Man RV rental guide is dated April 21, 2026 on that page. It says popular El Monte pickup locations in the Reno area, Northern California, and Nevada can be fully booked by February or March. The same section says to book as early as possible, ideally in January or February for a late August departure, and the timeline says to reserve the RV class and the Reno pickup between January and March.

The FAQ on that guide says those same counters typically sell out 4 to 6 months before the event, often by February or March for a late August departure. A July booking, in their words, is likely to mean limited availability and fewer choices of size and class. That is their inventory. It is not a date we invented, and it is not a promise that every other fleet is empty on the same day.

Reno

The same guide calls a Reno pickup the closest major counter: roughly 100 miles from Black Rock City, about 1.5 to 2 hours via NV-447 through Gerlach. Stock the rig in Reno before that drive. Their guide also says there is no fuel inside the city, and that Gerlach is the nearest services, about 10 miles from the entrance.

The counter we matched, and the seasonal note, are on Reno RV rental. Book that pickup in the January-to-March window their guide names, not in July.

Bay Area

El Monte puts San Francisco with people flying into the Bay Area, and Northern California is inside the February-or-March sentence above. The Bay is not a later clock than Reno on that page. It is the same sell-out line.

Their guide says pickups at San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas take a $1,000 non-refundable, non-transferable down payment in place of the standard deposit. It says standard payment terms apply at all other locations, and it does not print that other amount, so this page does not invent a Reno deposit. The addresses and the other fleets that name a Bay pickup are on Bay Area RV rental.

Fees that guide actually states

Two amounts, both from the guide linked above. Nothing else on this page is a price.

  • $1,000 non-refundable, non-transferable down payment for San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas pickups, in place of the standard deposit. Source: the "What's included" section of El Monte's Burning Man guide.
  • $1,500 cleaning fee, offered as a pre-paid charge at pickup for Burning Man rentals. The FAQ on the same page calls that fee optional and says it covers the full post-event clean, with no additional charges on return. Both sentences are theirs. We are not choosing which one the counter will say when you arrive. The longer fee page they point at is Travel Extras.

That guide does not print a nightly rate or a weekly range. We will not invent one. Cruise America, Road Bear, and the campervan fleets publish their own deposits and one-way fees. Those numbers stay on their pages, and on the Reno and Bay Area notes where we have already cited them. We are not copying a figure onto this page from a PDF we did not open for it.

The same El Monte guide says every rental includes unlimited generator use. That is an inclusion they state, not a price. There are still no hookups in the city. The prep list is RV prep for the playa.

If you are flying in

A licence, a passport, and a one-way that starts in one city and ends in another are RV rental from abroad. The fittings that ride in the rig, the hose and the sewer kit and the blocks, are the RV week kit. The personal list, the one you can print, is the packing checklist.

Questions

When do Burning Man RV rentals sell out?
El Monte's Burning Man guide says popular pickup locations in the Reno area, Northern California, and Nevada can be fully booked by February or March, often 4 to 6 months before a late-August event. That sentence is theirs. Another fleet can sell out on a different week. Read the company you are booking.
Is Reno a different clock from the Bay Area?
El Monte names both. Reno is the pickup they call closest to the playa, and they tell you to reserve that pickup between January and March. Northern California, which is how they group the Bay Area, is in the same February-or-March sell-out sentence. San Francisco pickups also carry the down payment on that guide.
Do you publish a nightly RV price?
No. El Monte's guide does not print a nightly rate. The two amounts on this page are the down payment and the cleaning fee that same guide states, and each one is cited. A range from another company stays on that company's page.
