Off playa
RV rental for Burning Man.
A bike, an RV, or a box truck is picked up in town. Fee-based bike rental inside Black Rock City is closed. A delivered RV is allowed only from a provider on Burning Man's Outside Services list. The company has to know the Black Rock Desert is the destination before you pay.
01
Bikes
Cruisers and e-bikes from Sparks, Reno, Nixon, and Gerlach. A theme camp can use Playa Bike Repair's own link, with a free trailer from 10 bikes.
The bike rental list02
RVs
El Monte, Road Bear, Cruise America, and a few campervan fleets publish a Burning Man fee. There is no dump station in the city. Gray water and black water leave with you, or with a pumping truck you flagged down.
03
Trucks
U-Haul publishes a Burning Man page. Hengehold publishes a playa playbook. Say the destination anyway, and keep the cleaning number they give you.
The rig
Motorhome, campervan, or someone else's RV.
Motorhome
El Monte, Road Bear, and Cruise America publish a Burning Man rule for a Class A or Class C. You get a toilet, a shower, and tanks. Reno and Sparks are the short drive. San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas are the counters with a published down payment on the thl fleets.
Campervan
Travellers Autobarn, Escape, Indie Campers, and roadsurfer will take a declared trip. Escape's current vans have no plumbing and no bike rack, and off-road driving is outside their insurance. Salt Lake City is on Indie Campers' Burning Man page. Cruise America's higher deposit also covers Utah departures in that August window. Travellers Autobarn publishes the fleet on its own site.
Peer to peer
RVshare allows the week only on a listing the owner has marked Burning Man friendly. Outdoorsy, RVezy, and Turo do not. A friendly message from an owner does not rewrite the platform terms.
Dust and the bill
Tell them the desert is the destination.
Playa dust is fine and alkaline. It gets into vents, cabinets, and the generator. The companies that allow the trip publish a cleaning number because of that. The number on the card is the one that company had on its own page. Read the reservation before you pay. Two pages from the same company can disagree, and the contract wins.
El Monte's travel extras list a $1,500 cleaning fee prepaid at pickup. Their April 2026 guide calls that fee optional and says it covers the full clean. Plan on paying it. They also ask you to work on the interior at return. Scrubbing the paint off the outside is not the job they want. Road Bear has no prepaid cleaning fee. At drop-off they charge at least $500, and the bill can reach $3,000. Drop & Go is closed for these bookings.
A campervan fee is not a free pass to bring it back packed with dust. Travellers Autobarn's $1,000 supplementary fee still expects a clean return, and an undeclared trip is a $1,500 penalty that can void the insurance. Indie Campers publishes a €750 playa-dust fee and a €1,000 penalty if you skip the disclosure. Escape's current FAQ is a $500 cleaning fee with advance notice.
Before you leave the lot, fill the fresh tank and look for leaks. On playa there are no hookups, and gray water stays in the tank. Flag a pump-out truck or haul it out. Keep the door shut in a whiteout. Bag anything you want to stay clean. El Monte's guide says there is no fuel inside the city, and that Gerlach is the last services, about 10 miles from the entrance.

The city's rule
A pass gets you to camp. Then the rig stays put.
Every motor vehicle driving into Black Rock City needs a vehicle pass in the windshield. The city's help page exempts motorcycles and towed trailers. The ticketing page lists the pass at $165 before taxes and fees, sold with tickets, and capped at one pass for every two tickets. The pass covers the drive in and the drive to camp. Park when you arrive. Bikes and feet do the week.
The event FAQ says an RV is fine, there are no hookups, and you do not discharge gray water or sewage. It also says an outside vendor does not deliver the rig. A company that offers to place one in camp still has to be on this year's Outside Services list. We are not affiliated with Burning Man Project. Their pages are the rule. Ours is the reading list.

Motorhome
El Monte RV
El Monte calls the Reno counter its Burning Man location. They collect a $1,500 cleaning fee at pickup. Their pages sometimes call that fee mandatory and sometimes optional, so plan on paying it. Pickups in San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Las Vegas take a $1,000 non-refundable down payment.

There is no prepaid cleaning fee. At drop-off they charge at least $500, and the bill can reach $3,000. Drop & Go is closed for these bookings.

Cruise America
Their 2026 client notes raise the security deposit from $500 to $1,000 for every departure from California, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, and Utah between August 26 and September 1. A third-party copy of the terms uses August 19 through 25, so confirm the window on your contract. Interior cleaning can run to $250 and a dump charge to $100. For a special event, cancelling within 45 days forfeits the down payment.

A Reno company with a flat Burning Man rate for up to 14 days. There is a non-refundable dust-cleaning fee, then an hourly charge if the rig needs more. The insurance they describe is liability-only on the way to the event and back. Gerlach delivery is still outside the city.

A placed RV has to be on the city's list.
Burning Man stopped delivered housing in 2020 and brought it back for 2025. It stays limited to Outside Services providers. A quote for "we'll drop it at your camp" still has to match that list for the year you are going.

RV pump-out
United Site Services
The city says United Site Services handles RV and container pump-outs. There is no dump station, and dumping on the playa draws a citation. A camp with fewer than five RVs flags a truck and pays at the truck. Larger orders go to BurningManOrders@UnitedSiteServices.com or 800-499-9987. Their water tanks are labeled not for drinking. Hoses reach about 30 feet, so leave a path to the rig.

Questions
- Can I rent an RV for Burning Man?
- Yes, from fleets that publish a Burning Man rule and from peer-to-peer listings the owner has marked as allowed. Tell them the Black Rock Desert is the destination before you pay. Several companies forbid the trip outright.
- Is there a dump station in Black Rock City?
- No. There is no dump station, and dumping on the playa draws a citation. A camp flags a United Site Services pump-out truck or contracts ahead. Water from those trucks is not drinking water.
- Can an RV be delivered into the city?
- Only from a provider on Burning Man's Outside Services list for that year. A delivery price from a company that is not on the list is not a plan. The event FAQ still says you drive the rig in yourself.
- Motorhome or campervan for Burning Man?
- A motorhome has a toilet, a shower, and holding tanks, and the week is about those tanks. A campervan is easier to drive and often has no plumbing, so the toilet plan is still yours. Peer-to-peer listings are allowed only when that owner has said so.
- Can I drive the RV around Black Rock City?
- A vehicle pass gets the rig through the gate and to camp. It does not let you drive around the city. Park it. Bikes and feet do the rest. Motorcycles and towed trailers are the pass exceptions on the city's help page.
