What we do with your information.

Last updated October 16, 2026.

Burner Supply is an independent gear guide, and a spinoff of Dustproof Supply. We are not affiliated with Burning Man Project. We don't run accounts on this site, and we don't sell personal information.

What we collect

The checklist forms ask for an email address. If you send one, our server passes that address to MailerLite and adds it to our checklist group. The RV checklist form uses a separate MailerLite group only when we have configured one. Otherwise it joins the same list. We don't ask for a name, a phone number, or a postal address.

The form has a hidden field meant for bots. If that field is filled in, we drop the signup. The address is not sent to MailerLite.

The packing list can remember which boxes you ticked. That list stays in this browser. We never receive it.

We don't run an analytics service, and we don't load advertising pixels, share buttons from another company, or embedded players. A click can leave a note in your browser. That note stays on the page. It is not sent to us.

The site is hosted on Netlify. When a page is requested, Netlify writes an ordinary server log: the page address, the time, and technical details such as an IP address and the browser. We don't keep a separate visitor database, and we don't turn those logs into a profile.

Why

We take an email so we can send the list you asked for. We don't sell it, and we don't use it to advertise something else. Shop links are how this guide pays for itself. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission. Your price does not change. The host keeps logs so the site can stay up.

Who else sees it

MailerLite stores the email address and sends the messages. Once the address is there, MailerLite's own policy covers their copy.

Most product buttons open Amazon with our Amazon Associates tag, burnersupply-20. You buy from Amazon. They see the visit because you clicked through to them.

A few buttons open Soft Landings. Those links carry an affiliate reference, sca_ref. Soft Landings ships the order from Australia. They see the visit the same way.

The Totem Compass button opens the maker's own shop. That link is not an affiliate link, and it does not carry a tracking code.

If you use a share link, you leave this site. Pinterest, Facebook, or Reddit receives the address of the page you chose to share. Pinterest also receives the address of a picture we made here. Email opens your mail program. Copy link copies an address that includes UTM parameters, so a later visit can be told apart from a normal one in the host's logs. We make those share pictures ourselves. We don't embed the other companies' code on our pages.

Bike shops, RV companies, and truck counters are linked as their own pages. Three of the RV buttons add UTM parameters, including utm_source=burnersupply: Travellers Autobarn, El Monte RV, and Cruise America. The company can see which guide sent the visit. The label is a parameter on the link. It is not a cookie we set, and those three buttons are not affiliate links unless a tracking URL has been configured. When one has, the page says so.

Cookies and affiliate links

We don't set cookies on burnersupply.com. The packing-list ticks are stored in this browser, not in a cookie.

When you click an Amazon link, Amazon can set a cookie so that if you buy, they know the click came from our tag, burnersupply-20. When you click a Soft Landings link, their shop can set a cookie so a purchase can be credited through the affiliate reference on the link. If we add another affiliate tracking link later, the shop or its network can set a cookie the same way, after the click, on their side.

Those are third-party cookies. They belong to the shop or to the affiliate network working for that shop. They are not set by us, and they are not set until you click. We don't see what is inside them. Your price does not change.

How the links are labeled on the site is in the affiliate disclosure.

How to unsubscribe

Checklist mail comes from MailerLite. Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of one of those emails. If you can't find it, write to shopburnersupply@gmail.com and we will take the address off the list.

Ask us to delete it

Email shopburnersupply@gmail.com and tell us the address. We will delete it from MailerLite. We don't keep a second copy of the list. An IP address in the host's server log is not an email we can look up. If you want us to ask Netlify about a log, say so in the same note.

Children

This guide is written for adults packing for a week in the desert. We don't knowingly collect a child's email. If a child signed up, email us and we will delete the address.

California, Europe, and the UK

If you live somewhere with a privacy law, including California, the European Union, or the United Kingdom, you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we have, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can also object to how we use it, or tell us not to sell it. We do not sell personal information. To ask, email shopburnersupply@gmail.com. We will answer. This page is our explanation of what we do. It is not a certification, and it is not a claim that a regulator has approved us.
