Reno

Flying in: Reno, and the other airports.

Reno-Tahoe is the airport that puts you in the town where the car, the rig, and the bike shops are. San Francisco and Sacramento are the other landings we use when Reno is the expensive or the awkward ticket.

We are an independent outfitter. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Burning Man Project. The event name is used so you know which week this is for.

RNO, SFO, and SMF

RNO is Reno-Tahoe. You land, you sleep, you pick up the car or the rig in Reno or Sparks. That is the short version, and it is the one we prefer when the schedule allows it.

SFO is San Francisco. It is a common international gateway, and a common place to change planes. It is not the Reno counter. From there you still connect to Reno, ride the bus, or drive. We are not going to print a drive time. The road is longer than the RNO plan, and a late aircraft is yours.

SMF is Sacramento. Domestic itineraries use it when Reno is thin. It is still a drive to Reno or toward the playa, not a landing at the hotel door. Check the connection before you treat it as the same trip.

International visitors: a passport itinerary often reaches a US hub before it reaches Reno. Baggage, a missed connection, and what the airline will rebook are on that ticket. The week itself, once you are on the ground, is Burning Man from abroad.

Burner Express publishes the bus from Reno and from San Francisco on their bus page. We do not sell a seat. Dates and the fare stay there. Check burningman.org, and that bus page, for the year you are flying.

The night in town is a Reno hotel. The car, if you are not on the bus or in a rig, is a rental. Boxes that should not be in the cabin are shipped to Reno.

Questions

Which airport do you fly into?
Reno-Tahoe, RNO, when the fare and the schedule allow it. San Francisco, SFO, and Sacramento, SMF, are the alternatives we actually use. We do not publish a fare.
What about a flight from another country?
Many itineraries land at a larger hub first, often San Francisco, and then connect to Reno or stop there. The connection, the baggage, and a missed leg are the airline's rules. Read them. We do not invent a route.
Is there a bus from the airport?
Burner Express is Burning Man Project's bus, with its own page for Reno and San Francisco. We do not sell seats and we do not reprint a schedule. Their page is the bus.
