Ready for the Burning Man gate

Ticket or will-call confirmation, a bottle, a layer, and lights stay in reach. Shade and the cooler stay packed. We are not timing the line.

A group of people with bicycles in warm sunset light and blowing dust, several wearing hats and goggles.

Shop the overseas flyer kit. Each piece is its own listing. We don't ship a kit as one box.

How we'd spend

Buy once, then the lighter pieces.

The buy-once piece is the one worth a real cart. The lighter spend still does the job. A usual range is a typical price, not today's.

Each card opens the shop. Amazon links are affiliate links. Your price does not change. How the links work.

Buy once

Packable warm layer

Why this one

The survival guide is plain about it: the afternoon is not the night. Overnight lows fall into the forties, and the ride back is the coldest hour. A packable insulated jacket, or a real fleece, lives on the bike basket. The pashmina is the wrap. This is the layer that still works when you are moving.

A packable jacket is often $40–90

Usual range, not today's price.

Does the job

Black Diamond Spot 350

Why this one

You cook, hunt a stake, and walk to the latrine with both hands full. A headlamp with a red night-vision mode is the one we pack. White light in a sleeping tent makes you the neighbor nobody wants. One lamp is a single point of failure, so bring a spare.

Often about $43

Usual range, not today's price.

Wide-mouth bottle with a lid

Why this one

The city runs on cups, and an open cup on a bike is a spill. A wide-mouth bottle with a real lid is the one people clip to a bag and still have at the next art piece. Bring one you will carry. A beautiful cup left at camp is the same as no cup.

Often $12–20

Usual range, not today's price.

Read the note

The photograph is people and bicycles in sunset dust. It is not the gate, and it is not a wait. The city's gate page says you need a ticket to enter, and that the gate opens for all participants at 12:01 a.m. on the Sunday prior to the Man burn, then stays open 24 hours. The 2026 help article we opened says the gates are open from 12:01 a.m. Sunday, August 30, 2026, through Monday, September 7, 2026. The drive-tips page gives the same open time. What happens if you arrive before that is written on those pages. We are not turning it into a duration.

In reach

The front seat is a ticket, or the confirmation for will call, a bottle, a layer if it is dark, and a light if you step out of the car. We are not describing what will-call usually does. The 2026 city plan says where the box office is and the window for picking up will-call tickets. That page is the hours.

The 2026 city plan is that box-office note. Tickets and the vehicle pass stay on the city's ticketing page. A bottle with a lid is the water you can actually drink in the seat. A headlamp is the light if you are out of the car. A warm layer is the after-dark piece. Bike lights, if the bike is already on the rack, are the set we list, and the prep is bike lights before the gate.

Stays packed

Shade, lags, and the cooler do not need to be in your lap. The order they come out of the car is how to pack the car. This page does not become a second packing list. The tick-off version of the whole week is the packing checklist.

A rental RV is the other document

If the bedroom is a rental, the pass and the contract are renting an RV. We are not quoting a vehicle-pass price here. Flying in, with no front seat of your own, is the flying-in note. The bus page is the luggage rule. The gate pages above are still the open time.

  • The city's gate page and the 2026 help article, read for this year.
  • Ticket or will-call confirmation where a hand can reach it.
  • A bottle with a lid. A layer if it is dark. A light if you leave the car.
  • Shade, lags, and the cooler still packed. The pack-the-car note is the order.
  • RV pass and contract on the rental note. No price on this page.
  • No line duration added by us.

Questions

When does the Burning Man gate open?
The city's gate page, the 2026 help article, and the drive-tips page we opened all put the public open time at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, August 30, 2026. Those pages also say what to do if you arrive earlier. They do not agree in one sentence, so we are not collapsing them into a wait. Read the page for the year you are going. We are not adding a line duration.
What should I keep in the front seat for the gate?
A ticket or the will-call confirmation, a bottle you can drink, a warm layer if the line is after dark, and lights if you will be out of the car. Shade, lags, and the cooler stay packed. The load order is the pack-the-car note. This page is only the seat you can reach.
Does this page include the RV vehicle pass?
No price, and no pass rules of our own. The pass and the contract live on the RV rental note and on the city's ticketing page. If you are in a rental, those pages are the ones to open before you roll.
