Burner Supply

A small gift for a first burner

Goggles that seal, saline, earplugs, and lip balm. A bag, not a shade structure. If they have no camp shade, a gift is the wrong size of help.

Two people close to the camera in a dust cloud. One wears a fur-lined hood and round goggles. The other wears a cap and ski goggles.

Sits beside What not to bring to Burning Man/Questions to ask your Burning Man camp/First-timer kit/How to choose a Burning Man dust mask/Affiliate disclosure

Shop the first-year crate. Each piece is its own listing. We don't ship a kit as one box.

How we'd spend

What we'd pack first.

We lead with the piece that does the job, then a lighter spend beside it. A usual range is a typical price, not today's.

Each card opens the shop. Amazon links are affiliate links. Your price does not change. How the links work.

Dusty splash goggles with capped vents on a wooden crate.

The one we pack

Pyramex G204 splash goggles

Why this one

We stopped buying goggles for the product photo. Open vents feel kind in a store and fill with flour-fine alkali the first time the wind stands up. A splash goggle with the vents capped keeps the lens in front of your eyes. Bring two. The spare stays in a zip bag.

Often about $8

Usual range, not today's price.

Foam earplugs spilled from a small jar.

Pack with it

Mack's Ultra Soft foam earplugs, 50 pair

Why this one

The bag handles the cold. The earplugs handle the art car and the generator three camps over. Foam plugs live in a jar in the tent, with a spare pair in the day bag. Loose plugs in a dusty pocket are finished.

A 50-pair jar is often $15–25

Usual range, not today's price.

A person using a saline nasal spray.

The lighter spend

Simply Saline daily care spray

Why this one

The sinus rinse at camp, with packets and clean water, is the real wash. A pressurized saline spray is what you can use on the bike, in a line, and at 3 a.m. when you will not boil water. The first-aid booklet lists nasal saline. People out there keep a spray in the day bag and do the rinse when they get back.

Four pieces that fit in a bag

Goggles that seal are the first one. Mesh fills with dust. The dust note is how to choose them. A saline spray and eye drops are the small bottles. Foam earplugs are for sleep. Lip balm is the tube. No bundle. Each button is the listing we already use.

What not to send

Glitter, feathers, sequins, and glued-on bits are what not to bring. Their precycle page is the city's line. A jacket you cannot shake out is not a gift. It is a bag of moop.

If they have no shade

Ask whether camp covers shade, water, a kitchen, power, and a toilet. That list is questions for camp. The personal layer, if this is their first year, is the first-timer kit. A gift is the pouch. It is not the roof.

  • Goggles that seal, not mesh.
  • Saline, drops, earplugs, lip balm. Separate listings. No bundle price.
  • Nothing that sheds. The leave-at-home note is the refusal.
  • If shade is missing, point them at the camp questions and the first-timer kit.
  • Disclosure on this page. The buttons are the shop's usual buttons.

Questions

What is a useful Burning Man gift for someone who is going?
A few pieces that fit in a bag: goggles that seal, a saline spray, eye drops, earplugs, and lip balm. There is no bundle price. The buttons are the same affiliate buttons as the rest of the shop. We are not saying a recipient will love it, and we are not ranking a best seller.
What should I not send?
Glitter, feathers, sequins, and anything the leave-at-home note already refuses. Their precycle page says glitter is not allowed in the city. We are not keeping a second copy of that rule. A gift that sheds is moop with a bow on it.
Is a gift a substitute for shade or water?
No. If they have no shade, no water, and no camp answer, the first-timer kit and the ask-your-camp note are the right size of help. A pouch of goggles does not cover a week.
