Why it's on the list
"I'll just be a minute" is how bikes change owners. A cable is a suggestion. A hardened U-lock through the frame, with the cable only for a wheel, is the habit: every stop, including right outside camp. The listing we opened is an 11mm steel shackle with three keys in the box. The page title still says Mini-6, and the style menu also offers a Mini-7. Stay with the 11mm U-lock.
How we use it
Lock it every time, including 'right outside camp.' Write your name somewhere discreet on the frame anyway. If you add a cable, it is for a wheel, not the lock. Dust the keyway before you need it at exodus.
Heads up
No lock is a bank vault. A thin cable has shattered when someone just started pedaling. Hardened steel through the frame is the category. The cable is only for a wheel.
