Wet oil and this dust make a grinding paste. A dry chain lube goes on wet and sets up as a film that does not stay sticky. The listing we opened is Finish Line's dry ceramic formula, the one meant for dusty riding. Lube the chain at home, wipe the extra, and bring the bottle for one more pass midweek.

How we use it

Wipe the chain before you apply it. Extra lube on the frame collects dust and then rubs onto your calf. The rag comes home. Do this before the gate, not in a whiteout.

Heads up

Dry lube is for dust. If the week turns to rain and mud, wipe it and accept a gritty chain until you can clean it.
