Reliance

Burning Man water gear

The jug people actually stack, carry, and dispense from.

Why it's on the list

Bottles are heavy, gone by Wednesday, and the wind takes the empties. We choose jugs that stack in a car and pour from a spigot. Two of them is fourteen gallons, a serious start for one person's drinking water, not a camp's washing water. Do that math before you fall in love with a cute canteen.

How we use it

Figure about a gallon and a half of drinking water per person per day before cooking or rinsing dust off your hands. A seven-day stay is roughly eleven gallons of drinking water alone. Label the jugs. Keep the spigot covered. The playa will find it.

Heads up

Do not store them in the sun if you can help it. Warm plastic water is still water, but your future self will not thank you.
