Why it's on the list
A line sweep finds feathers and zip-tie tails. It does not find a lag bolt in the dust. A magnetic sweeper does. The listing we opened is the GRIP 17-inch pickup, model 53417, with a handle that extends and small wheels. It was $19.99. People who bought it say the magnet works and the handle is the weak part.
How we use it
Roll it at the end, when the shade is down and the light is low. It picks up steel. It does not pick up aluminum, glass, zip ties, or ash. If a wheel binds in soft dust, flip the bar and drag it. Pocket what it catches. Empty it into a bag, not onto the hex next door.
Heads up
The handle on this model has a reputation for snapping if you ram it. Carry it more than you shove it. A sweeper is the last pass for metal, not a substitute for looking.
