Jetboil

Burning Man kitchen gear

A cup and a burner that boils water for coffee and a real meal.

Why it's on the list

A camp that cannot boil water eats crackers and gets short with each other. This is the personal system we point people at: a liter cup, a push-button igniter, and a boil fast enough that coffee happens. Fuel is a separate canister. It is not a griddle for eight people.

How we use it

Cook outside, off the tent, with the canister stable in the little stand. Wind steals heat, so a bit of shade that is not a loose tarp over the flame. Let it cool before it goes back in a bin. The playa packs the threads.

Heads up

Fuel is sold separately. Use it outdoors. A stove in a tent is how a week ends early.
