A metal camp bowl and a long spork on a dusty crate.

Bowl and spork

Burning Man kitchen gear

A bowl and a spork you can carry, because nobody hands you a plate.

Why it's on the list

The cup gets the speech. The bowl is how you eat. A nesting bowl and a spork live with the day bag so a meal is not eaten out of a pot with a dusty finger. Metal or a hard plastic that can take hot water. Wash it into the gray-water jug, not onto the playa.

How we use it

One bowl per person, plus a spare. Mark them. A long-handled spork beats a fork you drop in the dust. Rinse with a splash and pack that water out.

Heads up

Paper plates are trash you have to haul, and they blow away before you finish eating.

Bowl and spork

A bowl and spork are often $15–30
