Why it's on the list
The day layer has to soak, wrap, and come clean in a bucket. Cotton does all three. Synthetics melt near a burner and hold the week. The page we opened is a Rothco shemagh, about 42 inches square, 100 percent cotton, sold by SPLG and shipped by Amazon. We wear it for sun and ordinary dust, and we take it off the job the moment we cannot see the person ten feet ahead.
How we use it
The link opens on olive drab. Other colors are on the menu. It is a scarf for the ordinary hours. In a whiteout it comes off and the respirator goes on. Wash it if the dye worries you before you wrap your face in it.
Heads up
Synthetics melt against a burner or a hot bike light. This one is cotton. It is not goggles, and it is not an N95.
